A young girl who chose to attend a town hall meeting with the President instead of her last day of school and in turn she got a little more than I’m sure she expected. President Obama wrote a personal note to her teacher excusing her from school. (Read more here.)

note to all yankees fans who might also care about the environment:

you can only bring plastic water bottles into the stadium. if you try to bring your cute, “green” metal water bottle in you will be forced to part with it…i am still mourning the death of mine.

thisisbk: Witnessing this made me sad. It’s also strange that while women are permitted to bring oversized diaper bags into the stadium, men are forced to either throw away or check (for $10) their messenger bags that are very common for male workers in NYC. When a man who is being turned away asks ANY stadium attendent what to do, they all respond like a broken record: “you can check it at Stadium Souvenirs on River Ave.”
